Mouthwash Function!

By

Gargling mouthwash, I wondered if this was a waste of money. I picked up the container, and I realized it contained alcohol. Asking my teacher, he explained it denatures the bacteria, changing the function and shape.

In addition, alcohol dehydrates and removes the cell membrane of bacteria. Ultimately, killing bacteria. However, companies have mouthwash with no alcohol. These brands of mouthwash contain cetylpyridinium chloride, or fluoride. Both chloride and fluoride steal electrons from the bacteria’s cell membrane, leading to death.
